Community: Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. 10 Community Meeting
Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. 10 leaders agreed to hold three community meetings throughout October at its Sept. 9 board of commissioners meeting. The board is holding the meetings to introduce residents to the department, help residents understand its transition and meet the firefighters.
“ESD No. 10 recognizes there are many people who are unfamiliar with ESD No. 10, and the commissioners believe this will be an opportunity to inform the public about the emergency services district in a community-based setting,” ESD 10 board President Larry Smith said in a statement.
In early March, the entire ESD 10 board resigned following a lawsuit filed by the then-assistant fire chief, Community Impact Newspaper previously reported. On March 18, the new ESD 10 board voted to terminate its contract with the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department, meaning the ESD will become the direct provider of services for the area, and all MVFD staff will become employees of the ESD.
The transition will take place Jan. 1.
The first community meeting will be held Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 27610 Decker Prairie Road, Pinehurst.
